Man, I was warned that rClone was tricky to set up, but I had no idea how easy it was to unintentionally delete all existing files from my Google Drive. Lolz. Thankfully Drive has a trash folder and I was able to restore everything. The funny thing is that I didn’t even realize my files were gone until I tried to access one for an unrelated project and saw it was missing. Phew.

Anyways, after I got the rClone←→gDrive integration linked, and after that deleted files fiasco, I learned that a better workflow for what I want to do—syncing my quartz project to Google Drive—is to sync just the media files to Google Drive while syncing the rest of the project to GitHub. Doing that gives me the best of both worlds: GitHub repo management without blowing up my repo size. I won’t know if this setup is truly legit until I link a second computer with rClone, but until then, in Claude I trust.
