Dom Scott responded! He recommended several alternatives to MediaPipe (implying that hand tracking for greater than 2 hands will not be supported):

  • Body Track CHOP
  • rtmlib
  • Yolo From those options, rtmlib seems like the best starting point, since it’s lightweight, open-source, and highly configurable.

While researching it, I ended up stumbling upon another promising library, sports2d. There was a whitepaper explaining its utility in—get this—the JOSS! How neat is that. Imaginary reader, do you also believe in destiny?
